NB and CPU frequency

Go to solution Solved by 79 Potatoes,

I reset it again and the multipliers are still the same, It doesn't look like I can change them in the bios. The fact that my Cpu is not in the support list is weird, I have been running this combo for years.

Not that weird, mbs running "unsupported" CPUs isn't weird, look at that 771 mods or weird Asrock craps like the AM2CPU thing.

Just change the multipliers back, x21 for CPU, and I think NB should be 2000 MHz, so x10

Also the overvoltage, IDK if 1,55 V is stock

After resetting the bios on my MoBo, I have been getting some random crashes.

I suspect the frequency of my Cpu and NB to be the fault.

The processor and North Bridge maximum frequency seem a bit high. I read that the NB frequency shouldn't be above 2000MHz, thats why I'm suspecting this to cause the crashes.

Cpu: Fx-4170

MoBo: asrock 960gm-gs3 fx

Any answer would be much appreciated.

Reset again, but with the jumper, not battery.

IF it doesn't work then you'll have to do it manually

EDIT: For me it looks like the thing that's wrong are the multipliers... (for example, the multiplier for CPU should be x21)

I can't see FD4170FRW4KGU in the list, your CPU

HOLY DAMN WAT

Is that a CPU running at 6.3ghz? Also your voltage is insane dude... Reset your BIOS and don't turn it on until you get that shit fixed... 6.3 MOTHAFUKIN GIGA HERTZ

Nice to hear, did you turn voltage down aswell?

I can't find the original max. voltage at stock, but the pics I saw suggest something around 1,39-1,4 V. If any of those values work, you'd try to undervolt to find your lowest voltage (and power consumption) possible ;)

That is the Maximum Frequency the CPU and NB can reach.

It is NOT what the CPU and NB is currently running at.

1.55V is the maximum Core Voltage you can set in the motherboard BIOS settings.

In other words, 6.3 GHz ad 6.2 GHz is the maximum the motherboard will allow.

It is most likely your other motherboard settings.

For an example, AHCI or IDE mode for your SATA ports / controller.

While you are in the BIOS, check the temperature readings and make sure they are abnormally high or low.

Can you please also post a few more screenshots / pictures for the rest of the settings in your BIOS?

You may have a few settings that defaulted to a settings that your Operating System doesn't like (i.e. not the same as when you installed it).

Just from your first screenshot above:

  1. Set APM to [Disable] for the time being
  2. Your DRAM settings are on [Auto], and your memory are running at 1.60V. Reconfigure that to the proper setting for the DRAM that you have installed.

Well, I disabled APM and fixed the DRAM stettings, the rest of the bios looks fine to me and my pc is running just like normal again.
