I currently have a Gigabyte HD7790 oc 1gb: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125455

Is there any reasonable upgrades of 1.5-2x performance cards in the $200-250 US price range?

You can get a 290 right now for 250 bucks, that's as good as it gets at that price point IMO, like, insane price to performance.

EDIT

Found this one at similar pricing
