Need help with planet usb wifi device-Linux Mint

Try

sudo sh ./

Hi, I just set up my new pc and since I didn't have any better distro lying around I set up linux mint to get myself debian.

To access the internet I bought a Planet micro usb adapter (WNL-U556M).

The problem is that the driver isn't very straightforward (it's a shell script) and the documentation isn't quite up to par (i.e. manual points to documents that don't exist on the disk that came with the device.

I just said to myself "no problem" and cd'ed into the Linux_Driver folder on the disk and attempted to open the install.sh file,

I tried both ./ and sudo ./ to no avail as I got a permission denied when trying to use the file, even when I made myself root.

Any ideas?

sorry to hear that, but it seems to be a common problem with usb wifi sticks in linux.

Can't help you more there but try mint and ubuntu forums, maybe some one has had similar issues.
