Since updating to windows 10 I've had some intermittent issues with shadowplay.

I use the shadow record feature a lot whenever I play with friends and lately I've noticed that every so often when I enable shadowplay during a game I'll get some strange screen tearing; but only on the top area of my screen. Has anyone else had this?

I've experienced it in both WoW and League of Legends. WoW moreso though. It seems to be fixed by relaunching the game with shadowplay already running. I've tried turning it off and on, enabling while something else is the primary window and a few other things but it still seems to come randomly and I can't figure out what causes it or a definite way to remedy it. It seems to go away after a bit if I disable shadowplay or just toggle it on and off enough times while switching windows.

I used it countless times while I was on windows 7 without any screen tearing or any issues ever. Curious if others have had any problems with it since updating.

I know it's an old post but I'm having this issue too with a GTX 980 Ti. Seems it's a really common issue with Shadowplay on Windows 10.

Some things that seem to have worked for some people (according to posts I've found on the web about the issue):

  • Disabling the status indicator
  • Disabling desktop capture
  • Disabling shadow mode

For me disabling the status indicator seems to have fixed it... very peculiar.

@Mentaltoast @stubar

You are a godsend. Disabling Status indicator has helped me (although I still see the mic popup on my other monitor too, which is what I thought was causing my screen tearing) I guess Nvidia need to fix their shadowplay ah? (first of april 2016 and it isn't fixed yet)
