So I'm trying to put together as low-cost a system as I can for a friend that will be streaming Minecraft. She's currently on a Macbook Air which seems to have no ability to upgrade the memory by the user. So I decided to price out a simple box for her and see what I can come up with to help her out. This is for a complete systems, including keyboard, mouse, monitor, and Windows.

I'm pretty sure streaming likes more cores.

CPU - FX 8350 @ 4.5GHZ GPU - Radeon 5700  Mobo - M5A99FX Pro R2.0 RAM - Crucial Ballistix 16GB @ 1600 PSU - Corsair CX600M CPU Cooler - Hyper 212 EVO Storage - Samsung EVO 250GB, WD Blue 1TB

I doubt you'll be able to stream on that CPU. You want cheap get a FX 6300 and get at least a R9 270

                                                                                                                 Setup

CPU: i3 4160|Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE|RAM: Kingston HyperX Blue 8GB(2x4GB)|GPU: Sapphire Nitro R9 380 4GB|PSU: Seasonic M12II EVO 620W Modular|Storage: 1TB WD Blue|Case: NZXT S340 Black|PCIe devices: TP-Link WDN4800| Montior: ASUS VE247H| Others: PS3/PS4

Damn that build sucks dick for streaming and minecraft.

Get a cheap AMD CPU like the fx6300 and upgrade the GPU to something like the 750Ti.

basically do this

My Personal PC 'Apex' https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LiamBetts123/saved/3rTNnQ

Intel Core i9 9900k, ASUS Z390-A, RTX 2080TI, Meshify C, HX 850i, 32GB Gskill Trident Z RGB @ 3200MHZ, 500GB NVME, 500GB SSD & 2 x 4TB Baracudas

That's not true. She would only need to upgrade to an i5 and a better GPU. Would cost maybe $200 more so a total of 600.

Why 4690k if 4460 is good enough? Why R9 280 if R9 270 is good enough?

It's minecraft ffs

streaming is very intensive and yeh you could get away with the gpu but minecraft is almost all cpu work

i5-4460 is enough, because you didn't even include a z87/z97 MB to begin with to overclock.

the stock speeds are much faster but yeh that would add more cost and also from having experience playng minecraft she might want some mods just sayin

Very true, but the gap would be about $100 which would make the 4460 a better option if you're on a budget. I agree the 4690K is much better value.

Well, from what I heard, the Minecraft streaming is going to be occasional. It's more.. Well, kind of like when Linus, Luke, etc stream themselves on Twitch rather than TotalBiscuit streaming gameplay. For that I would expect she needs less power. Am I mistaken?

@grayblizzard: That video card is a *lot* more power than what she needs. Any particular reason for that card?

I say you need to invest some more, to get the job done
