Gpu Throttle pinpoint issue

Go to solution Solved by Badger906,

it could just be afterburner.

sometimes when I'm gaming it says my gpu is running at 650Mhz instead of the usual 1400+ and its not like I'm getting fps drop even at 4k

Hey there!

i newly installed a new system but kept the gpu i had in my old system.

i'm having issues with the gpu down throtteling for what i can see as no reason. its far below max temps and far under power target.

what basicly happends is that any time i try to overclock it now, in the new system. it clocks down to default speeds on both core and memory. at 100%  its max temp is 55+-2c and using no more then 80/120% power.

the clocks i apply are minimal and even lower then standard, just to see if small clocks did the same. it clocks down no matter what OC i apply.

anyone had the same issue?

have tryed, made no differance :/ the screenshot i made is 1080p, the card is good for 1440p at medium high settings 60fps easy with no oc. so it just baffls me to why i cant oc it anymore..

Might should stupid but have you set your Nvidia Control Panel settings to use prefer maximum performance?

I also tend to find that afterburner can sometimes go a little crazy and as such I'll restart the program and/or my computer and that normally helps out.

hmm, even with Asus gpu tweak nothing happends.. it does say ive oc'd it to 1400 on the slider but doesnt go past 1329 on the graph :x what tha fox is diz..

well then its probably just the limitations of your gpu. simply sliding the slider to 1400 doesnt mean its overclocked to that. i could slide my slider to 2000mhz with mine and it actually runs lol.

I guess its just lucky theres no artefacts and or blue screen.

basically i think the limit of you're gpu is 1329Mhz but heat and voltage aren't a bottleneck causing issues.

as mentioned in the first post it started happening when i put the card in the new system. ive had the card for a few months and had np with overclocks at even 1460mhz. its just recently it just seemingly whont oc at all and Only stays at stock speeds for some reason :c

idk why, but it ended actually being afterburner.. it wasnt as giving false info. it just didnt clock the gpu until i made a profile save and mashed the saved profile button (1/5) then it actually applyed it and kept stable at 1508 core 8000 mem.

thx Badger!
