You could, in your editing software chop off the edges and just have the 16:9 in the middle. Then, if your game scales correctly, you may cut off some of the UI.

Or you could shrink it down and put black bars at the top and bottom to give it a cool theaterwide look. Which actually looks pretty cool tbh. Almost makes the video look even more professional, or even more less professional. Idk. I like it.

I think he means 21:9 to 16:9. Like if it would appear awkward on something like Youtube. I have no idea, though, to be honest.

Yeah, this is what I meant. I'm sorry if there was any confusion.

I would love to play on a ultrawide monitor, but I'm afraid of it looking odd when you play it back.

Let's assume the resolution of your monitor is 2560x1080 (21:9). If you are playing a game in full screen while also recording your gameplay in full screen, the output of your video file will be 2560x1080. This is not an ideal format for YouTube, but it is good for playback on your monitor I guess haha.

If you set the resolution in your game recorder to be 1920x1080, it will do one of the following:

1. It might take the total screen estate and compress it into 1920x1080 (Or any other resolution you set it to) , giving you a video with the entirety of your monitor that's squished into 16:9

2. It also might establish a screen area size where it will record. If you set it to 1920x1080, it might just record all of the content in the middle of your monitor, and not the sides.

It all depends on the program that you're using.

Nevertheless, you do not want to record at 21:9 to upload so others can view it, because the most popular format is 16:9. However there is no issue for you to record in 21:9, and play it back on a 21:9 monitor.

Idk. I like it.

Also a good solution.

Youtube resolutions are all compressed as shit anyway... youtubes 4k, MAYBE looks like what real 900p would look like on the internet.

You can safely record 3440x1440 @ 60fps (if you have an 500write SSD that is :) ) and upload it to youtube, it will put it under 4k60p. And anyone who has a 21:9 will be able to fullscreen it without black bars.
