Steam gamers already use Windows 10 more then any Linux distribution users combined.

Very important points raised about how Valve has failed to get proper GPU driver performance from AMD and even Nvidia. Since steamOS was announced there have been only incremental improvements but nothing even close to changing the landscape. Nothing to match windows directX11 performance. Shadow of Mordor on Linux has like 50% of the windows performance.

It seems like everyone involved has almost given up on OpenGL ever being truly competitive again. It's too archaic, drivers are too bloated, no conformance etc... Valve, NVIDIA and AMD are now pushing Vulkan so that the upcoming gen of Linux games will finally see DX12 level performance. Basically a fresh start with a modern API made for modern GPUs and with thinner driver layers without worrying about backwards compatibility. It seems to be the only way forward for AAA Linux gaming. The openGL ecosystem is fucked for AAA games and it looks like it's never getting fixed.

On a related note the below should be interesting. Not just relevant for Linux but windows too. A celebrity panel conducting a course on how to develop games for the new Gen of APIs- Vulkan and DX12.

I was talking about concepts. You said people don't care about concepts, which is wrong.

Do you know the meaning of the word context?

Watching Intel have competition is like watching a headless chicken trying to get out of a mine field

By the end of the quarter it should be at 25% if not more, given how easy it is to upgrade.

Linux is GREAT when you have a very specific need, especially in servers. For consumers? Its just a step backwards. Gaming support is entirely lacking. I'm sorry, indie BS doesn't count. I can't play BF4? Battlefront? No thanks. Have a good day.
