Yeah, the computer treats the mother board as the "computer" so no, you probably wont have to do an clean install. 

 

If it doesn't work, you can contact microsoft for an replacement as they will allow an reinstall of the OS if the motherboard is defective.

Isn't the OS on the hard drive or SSD but I know the motherboard has to do with it. When I swap parts, my desktop goes turn to a black background and says in the bottom right that "This copy of Windows is not genuine" "Build xxxx"

Yeah, the OS is on the drive, however OEM versions are locked to the motherboard. If you replace everything but the motherboard, it'll be fine. If you switch the mobo, you'll get the black screen message.

You wouldn't need to do a clean install since you are not changing any hardware which will require new drivers to be installed. Usually clean installs are for when people replace a hardware with a different one to avoid the old drivers conflicting with new ones.
