With the new consoles coming this Xmas, i think is about time to buy/build a new pc that will last idk two years maybe with the highest end graphics. How much do you think the whole thing would cost? And.. Would it be worth getting one before the release of the new consoles or after that?

You put future proof in the title...yet only want it to run for two years on highest. Anyway, it's gonna cost you a fair bit, I don't know your currency but it could be £800/$1000 or more. Getting one before the consoles will be fine, and the New Gen of Intel&AMD cpus have come out, and so have Nvidia's GPUs, so these are designed to be optimized for upcoming games for a long time.

Ryzen 5 1500x, Noctua NH-L9x65 SE-AM4, GA-AB350N, 16GB 1600Mhz, EVGA GTX 970, 250GB Samsung 960 Evo, 120GB Samsung 840 Evo, 1TB WD Green & 2TB Seagate Barracuda. 650w OCZ ZX & Cooler Master Elite 130. Acer CB241HQK 4K, LG IPS234V-PN 1080p, Ducky Zero Shine All Blue/Anne Pro Brown/SteelSeries Apex Pro & Razer Naga 2014

Depending on how you qualify your future proofing needs would be :)

if you are comfortable with 30 fps on 1080p, the best graphic card in the world - at the moment - will potentially last you a lot longer than if your standard is 120fps on 4k.

this theme has been banged repeatedly, but do try to wait for the new AMD cards, they might just be worth the wait - and you will have more information to make a proper

decision as to "is it worth it?"

hope that helps and good luck :)

You can make a PC last longer than that.  But it all depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can spend $400, or you can spend $10,000. Find a price you think is reasonable then start thinking. But to run games on high settings it will probably be around $1000-$1500

At this point the 700 series is well underway and in the next 4 months rumors will start back up again, so I personally would wait for the 800 series

A $1000-1500 range would be the best range for getting the best performance to price computer and will last for a while imo.

Linus has a video from a few years ago about future proofing gaming PCs.

Here is what he says in a nutshell and it made sense to me:

Expect to spend about $1500 - $2000 to build a great machine that will continue to perform great for a couple years.  And then in a few years part it all out and buy newer... rather than spending $5000+ up front today and expecting it to remain a top dog performer 2+ years later (it won't be).

*ah, here it is:

The whole video is good, but if you want to skip to about 1:50 I think it is relevant to this thread

WAIT FOR AMD'S 9000 SERIES. they MAY be designed to compete with 700 and 800 series cards, which would put them on 20nm, and possibly dominating for a full year. (we're talking 50% more performance than the 7970ghz ed, which puts it roughly 25% ahead of the titan.)
