So I've been trying to find a good MMORPG to waste my life on and haven't really found one that I absolutely loved, I've played ESO back in the beta days when it wasn't all that great, and then again with their free weekend or whatever with tamriel unlimited and tbh it was a shitload better, one of the better MMORPGs I've played.

To me the $60 price tag on steam is a little bit hefty, so I'm considering buying it from G2A instead, though I'm not terribly sure on the safety of it...

I'd be buying it from a US seller with 99% positive feedback and what I believe is 21639 reviews (or whatever the number next to the rating % is) for about $30USD, though I'm just worried about a possible bad key that could cause me to lose the game or something :/

(Some people on reddit have said that they got their account deactivated or banned from the game for fraud or a bad key)

What do y'all think I should do? Go for the game on G2A or just get over the high price or wait a while for sales and get it on steam?

Hehe alright, though from what I've seen with ESO, wanting to play together with other people isn't really gonna happen, if someone goes ahead of their friends in the main questline then their friends are then invisible to them until they catch up...

Buy it and use PayPal. If G2A screws you over, file a claim with PayPal and get your money back.

That's what I did with CS:GO, and it worked.

Yeah from what I saw on AngryJoe I agree, but I think the recent updates have somewhat alleviated the issue.

Smart idea, not all that nice to the person that would be selling me the key, but eh, they sold a shit key so I guess they'd deserve it.

Do not buy it from G2A. You will get deactivated like i did. My ESO account was not banned, but they deactivate your key, and you will have to repurchase it. Here is a list of official retailers for ESO: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/171736/deactivation-of-fraudulently-obtained-esotu-game-keys

Do not use G2A. I know the prices seem enticing, but if something is too good to be true, then it most likely is.

Well if my account does get deactivated then I'll just issue a chargeback on paypal to get my money back and buy it from steam or something instead. (Paypal will stick with the buyer 99.9999999999% of the time with purchases, especially when the item isn't a physical item.)

It is not really an IF, it is pretty much a guarantee at this point. So many people are getting hit by it. Rather than waste the time (Paypal will not give you the cash instantly, they will take time to review, and freeze the cash in limbo) i would wait for GMG to put it back on sale for $12, or catch one of the many sales zenimax does for the game. This game goes on sale quite often, at least once or twice a month.

Either way, do so at your own risk. My G2A key worked for about a month, then i got hit. Perhaps you can decide within that time frame if it is even worth your time.

Yeah, if I have to go a week or something while I wait for paypal to decide on the shit then whatever, I can do other things than just mindlessly sit on ESO lol.

How does GMG work exactly? (If you know that is).

And how safe would you consider it to be?

Green Man Gaming is an official online retailer for games. ESO has them listed as an authorized retailer too. Basically, GMG sends out email alerts on the current sales they offer (every few days or so). They also tend to have a 20% off coupon code. These codes almost always run, meaning you can get 20% off of most games at any given time. Right now, without ESO being on sale, it is $60.  If you use that 20% off code, it is $48. Granted, this is not as cheap as G2A, this is a 100% guaranteed legit key.

If you wait like i did, you can get ESO for as low as $12 from GMG, depending on when they decide to put it on sale again. You can try your luck with G2A, just be mindful that you might get your key deactivated. Bethesda is pretty relaxed on this situation, and will not ban your account. I still have my characters intact, i know this because they gave us another 3 day trial shortly after the ban, and all of my items were still on my character. If you get deactivated due to a fraudulent key, purchasing a legit key and using it on your ESO account will restore access to the game.
