I am in the process of building my first computer and need help with figuring out why my computer won't start after I install my EVGA GTX 960 SSC. Whenever I install it, the power LED turns on and all of the fans in the case spin for a second and then just turn off. The system boots perfectly whenever I uninstall the GPU. I have already tried clearing the CMO's and disabling the onboard graphics from my CPU.

My system specs (so far) are:

Intel Core I5 4690k

Corsair H100i

16GB (2x8GB) GSkill Ripjaw X DDR3-1866 RAM

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 ATX Motherboard

Corsair CX 500W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Any help would be appreciated. I have tried troubleshooting this for hours.

do you have any other power supplies available? it sounds like you don't have enough power for the gpu, which sounds a bit odd.

If i`m reading it correctly your system won`t post, do you hear any "beeps" from the motherboard speaker? that might help troubleshoot the problem.

So far my best bet is the PSU, try borrowing one or even running your old one along side...

I know i shouldn`t mention it but you don`t have a balanced build.. whoever suggested those components made some basic mistakes... expensive mobo expensive aio watercooling loop and only a gtx 960... makes me wanna cry. sorry for the offtopic

Honestly, try just pushing in the power cables a bit more and see what happens, otherwise bad contact with the pci slot or something? Also @via you might want to actually contribute buddy.

I'm actually going to purchase a MoBo speaker since my case or MoBo didn't come with one. I'll try borrowing a PSU, thank you. ( I'll keep that in mind for next time I upgrade/ build a pc. Thank you.)

I've checked the connections numerous times to make sure and I still have the problem.

Well only other thing I could say is, borrow a PSU from a friend or something, or just try that gpu in their computer. If it works, it's a PSU issue, if it doesn't there's a problem with the graphics card.
