motherboard mounting

Hi everyone,

 

I  am going to buy a new case, Not sure yet which one, but at least Micro-ATX supported.

But are the screw holes universal? Can i put in any Micro-ATX  board into any Micro-ATX case? or does it differ?

Its a motherboard from a pre built pc. And any suggestions on a nice Micro-ATX case are welcome. (At least if it's one i can buy in Europe)

 

System specs:

 

Intel i5 4460 3,2 Ghz (Stock cooler)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 1,5GB (OEM)

8 GB 1600Mhz
Micro-ATX Medion MS-7848

When I though about upgrading a Dell Prebuilt PC I read that the motherboard dimensions may differ, to be sure I would measure the distance of the holes to eachother and the mobo dimensions to be sure

normally it should work if it is already a matx mobo, even if it is from medion. but it could be the case that medion did on this mobo a great job making it very unique and put the holes in another place (was this a prebuilt medion pc?). You may look up for standard location measurements for the holes and look onto your mobo if they are the same

Yea, it's a prebuilt medion. And medion is also building the "other way around'' Which means i need to take off the right side panel instead of the left. The processor is mounted under the GPU and the gpu is facing upwards instead of downwards. I hope this is not a problem. I hear a lot of people saying that Medion can screw you real bad. I hope i won't get screwed. And is not that not all the screw holes have to fit? some say only 2 screws are enough.

it is not a problem that it is the other way round. in some two-chamber cases with support for 2 PCs it is the same. just make the most holes fit:) http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5Catx2_2.pdf here you can see which dimensions the atx boards should have (and where the holes should be)  if you 4 screws or more on the right position, you are fine:) btw, where are you from?

I checked my case from 1999 and it has Micro-ATX and its same as current so...

The Netherlands, and thats a shame because everything is more expensive here. But i also have another thing i would like to ask. Since it shouldn't be a problem now to replace the components into another case then i also want to put liquid cooling inside of it. However, its a LGA 1150 socket and i found a liquid cooler that supports that, but considering my mobo isn't made for liquid cooling, would it support that?

as long as it has normal cooling mounting holes, it will work. if i see it correctly on the picture this should be no problem sticking a liquid cooler on top of that, but personally i'd say that this will not be necessary, a small air cooler would also do a good job
