Starting Guild Wars 2!

Hey guys I'm starting to play Guild Wars 2! I would like to know the general "feel" of the community. Any recommendations/tips for a beginner?

Tips

• Most people are unsocial
• Get in a guild with voice chat if you want to be social
• Most people just focus on their own personal goal and ignore everyone else
• Some people are elitist. Most of said elitists just read some guide somewhere and think that they're right, so ignore them
• The PvE is easy enough that it doesn't matter what class/build that you use
• There is an upcoming expansion, so hopefully there is harder content incoming
• Optimal builds are for mainly for hardcore speed runs. "Optimal" is just whatever the meta happens to be and not actually optimal. I've been in a speed run before and almost matched it with a pick up ground of nothing but random thieves once.
• Do dungeons as soon as they become available. Fastest way to level
• Jumping puzzles are incredibly fun. Look for the full jumping puzzles and not the small ones for vistas
• Don't go into WvW until you're level 80 and geared
• Most people just use exotic armour at level 80 and get ascended accessories from laurels that they save up from their daily reward
• Ascended armour is just a tiny bit better than exotic, so don't worry about it
• Don't get stressed about the small charges on things like waypoints. The money is trivial
• Spend money as you get it without worrying too much about it. You'll earn tons more when you're level 80 just because you get better drops for your level
• This game is incredibly CPU intensive
• Do whatever it is you want in the game and have fun
• Don't feel compelled to do something a certain way because it's a faster route to your goal if it's not fun
• The expansion comes with the original game included, so you could just get that if you haven't already bought it

I loved the PvE Events and the Gameplay is awesome.

PvP is ok, but most of the time it was just big Raids. I quit the Game some Years ago, cant say how it is now though.
