Can I Do This?

So I've recently started buying my monitor/moritors for my set-up. I was wondering if I could use the GPU for 1 screen and the MOBO for the other 2. I am only going to use my middle screen for gaming and the others are for productivity. A) Is this possible? B) Does my CPU have to have onboard graphics?

Yes, it's possible. And yes, your CPU needs an iGPU (unless your board has a GPU on it, which very few have now)

 

You could just run all of them off your GPU, it wouldn't impact performance at all.

Your CPU would have to have integrated graphics for the motherboard ports to work, but if you have that then yes it's possible.

No, a xeon e3 1230 v3 doesn't have a igpu and you need that to run monitors off the mobo. You gpu supports 3+ monitors so just use that, there is no preformance hit when gaming if the gpu is also driving other monitors.

TLDR: plug everything in to the gpu.

Yeah, if your motherboard has a VGA/HDMI/Display Port or something on it, you can use that, I use two Philips 24" Monitors, Middle for gaming (660ti) and the one off to the left using the HDMI From my ASUS Z97-K, But it must have some form of iGPU..Or use adapters for cables if you cant use the ones you want (Like Displayport to HDMI or something)
