Hello everyone,

I'd like to ask whether I should get a Quadro K4200 or a Firepro W7100, for graphical work and texture editing ?

I've done a little bit of research that the two cards stated above do well in some programs, what I wanted to know is which one of these cards are faster In Maya 2014 and Photoshop CS6 ? Since the other in-house 3D programs I use are mostly CPU and RAM reliant.

Please do not recommend a consumer grade card because I have very bad experiences with them, for example a GTX 690 I bought for work purposes, was destroyed by "The Latest Drivers" from Nvidia  and now only leaving one core available and has multi displays/GPU completely obliterated. Now I only use the remaining core from the 690 for power.

can someone with experience on both cards, explain to me which one does best on those programs *without favouring any of the two* or should I just wait in hopes for a new set of cards ? maybe also tell me what is the Max Temp, for each cards and how long they can stay operational with two monitors before they heat up ?

Thank you,

^_^

EDIT : I also do graphical programming, and also programming for long hours which is usually 8 ~ 32 hours. I'd like to know if the cards can stay active without destroying them using dual screens for long hours.

EDIT^2 : Please give specification and if can your experiences using the cards.

Get a titan x instead. They cost less and are just as powerful

But aren't they still consumer grade cards ? I've had very bad experience with the GeForce driver as I said, since Nvidia cripples previous generation consumer grade cards once newer cards come out. My GTX 690 was destroyed upon installing "The Latest Driver", so I'm quite cautions with the GeForce cards, since not knowing what they might do to the Titan X once new cards come out.

EDIT : I've also ask around about Titan X but not a single user from any forum would advice the specifics between any of the Quadro cards and recommend a Titan X without any specifics either. It's quite sad not to know the advantages, disadvantages and the specifics of a card such as (Max Temps, and Temp after long hours of use)

Google, did not help me with making research easier.

Titan X would be fine, only time you need a quadro is DFPP

I know that a Geforce can benefit from faster speeds and higher amounts of practically everything *and also realtime rendering (not to sure about this)* but can it maintain a constant temperature output under long periods of use ?

Quadro FTW

Mind explaining the specifics ?

Can we please not recommend a Titan X for work like this? It DOES NOT HAVE THE DOUBLE PRECISION RENDERING BLOCK THE TITAN AND TITAN BLACK HAVE. It's a pure, overpriced, gaming card.

If you're getting a consumer-level card, a Titan Black would be the way. If not, the experiences I've heard from other people who used professional cards is that Quadro cards are more reliable, but that was years ago.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday

+1

*coming back to the topic at hand.

I still have yet to find the completely logical option because no one really answers the question, and those who do. They have yet to give specifics and their experience, because I want to know the opinion of those who actually own each cards instead of knowing assumptions that aren't usually true  :(
