New build posting issues

Hi, 

 

Ive just gotten the rest of my parrts today but im having some issues trying to get My mobo to post.

 

Im using the msi z97 gaming 5 with an EVGA G2 PSU 750w.

 

When i try to power on the Motherboard by shorting the 2 little pins on it. the blue light flashes but nothing happens. I dont see the bios screen when connected to a monitor. Nothing spins either.

 

atm all i have installed on the mobo are the CPU, ram, stock fan to test posting and the 24  pin CPU yet i cant for the life of me figure out whats wrong

Sorry to ask, but you didn't mention the 8-pin power (or is it my reading skills)

Does your mobo have an aditional 4-8 pin orso?

Apologies, I have also tried the 8 pin as well, yet to no avail. Am I correct in assuming its the one at the top of my mobo? next to the CPU? if so i have tried that one as well

Try to hook up any SATA-drive.

Try to hook up your GPU and put your monitor input on the graphics card.

 

Both won't be a lot of work, so trying is always worth it

Atm i am working outside of the case, Would it matter if i took it into the case?
