Yes that is what I meant. And this page will be open until I get my answer don't worry.

I think itd be better to go with hard tubing, its cheaper and you can route it any way you want, all you need it a heat gun to warm it up and bend it any which way you want. In terms of performance, I dont really think either has a gain over the other.

Hmm. But it is definitely harder to set up than soft tubing. If I had to go through that myself would probably have it prebuilt.

Its actually not that hard, and as aforementioned, its a lot cheaper than soft tubing, so buy more than you need so you have room to make mistakes and test different styles, since you probably will make some errors on the first attempts.

Am I missing something here?

If you google hardline tubing vs soft/flexible, the general consensus is that it's more expensive due to fittings and more difficult.

The tubing may be cheaper, but it's the fittings where the real money is spent.

Watch the video Linus did on Hardline:

(@14:50 - 15:30)

He recommends soft tubing.

Jayztwocents is the real expert on modern water cooling, not linus. And he says hard tubing is better, even for your first time.

Also, fittings are only more expensive if you aren't bending the tubes yourself. Otherwise it's exactly the same cost.

I have to agree on the positive comments regarding hard line builds. I am in the middle of my first ever water cooling loop and it is hard line as well. It's taking ages as I have been waiting on the waterblock I wanted being available (which it now is and should be arriving next week!).

For me, I would say there is absolutely no performance benefits between hard and soft, but hard lines will last a lot longer as they won't leech or discolor like soft tubing tends to. The fixtures (at least the ones I got) were about $20 more expensive for the whole set compared to soft ones, the tubing is significantly cheaper, but you do need a heat gun and silicone insert (and possibly mandrels if you aren't confident bending the pipe free hand).

Is it difficult to do a hard line build? Not particularly if you plan carefully.

Does it take longer to put the loop together compared to a soft loop? Absolutely. It will be more effort, but the end result (imo) looks significantly nicer.
