If rendering and you don't wanna overclock a Xeon 1231v3 Would help a lot, as for the GPU you could potentially fit in a 970

How expensive is it?

The Xeon 1231v3 is $240 in the U.S.

But I'll be using Cuda

For what?

depending on the program, OpenCL performance with AMD can actually be faster. CUDA is a bit overrated.

Check the program and if it supports openCL rendering/computing. If so, AMD will be just as fast due to raw compute horsepower

What about v ram? 390 has a 8gb variant, 970 has only 4.

But I'll be gaming also

The Xeon 1231v3 will, perform just as good as a i5-4690 ( non-k ) and is hyper threaded like the 4790k for rendering and editing ect ect

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/intel-cpu-bx80646e31231v3 Plus you'd be saving some money on a H97 mobo :)

If you wanna overclock and still have hyper threading you'd be paying the price for a 4790k. The Xeon is a nice budget option that'll perform close to the 4790k in rendering and editing and like a 4690 In gaming

But would the i7 2600k still hold up in 3d rendering and gaming?
