I just updated to Windows 10 and setting aside the restarting three times just to get Windows to boot after the installation was finished, I'm presented with a flickering lock screen and every time I try to log in, it'll struggle for a few seconds, flicker and bring me back to the lock screen. Or, if it does finally sign in, I would be able to open the search bar, then it hangs, flickers, and promptly bring me back to the lock screen. I'm also having issues with battery life, intel and Nvidia drivers, as well as the screen brightness setting just plain not working. I upgraded with the Windows 10 utility by having it make the upgrade iso on a usb drive. Any ideas as to what to do next. It's so unusable I've actually had to resort using a school laptop to do my work today.

I never even got an option or prompt to do a ISO file when I upgraded. yesterday I turned my laptop on and nothing came up for windows 10 so I decided to just do a manual update check then the windows 10 upgrade came up. How do I make a ISO image now that it has been downloaded and upgraded. I have to have 2 different ISO files cause I have 2 rigs running 8.1 pro and a laptop (that I did the upgrade to 10 on) that had windows 7 home?

AMD FX 6300 Black Edition, ASRock 990FX Killer, 16GBs Memory @2133, 2 MSI R9 270x's in Crossfire, NZXT Kraken X41 Cooler, Samsung 850 pro SSD, 1 TB HDD, EVGA Supernova NEX 650 G, and with 4 other fans.

Install video drivers and chipset drivers and then see if it works.

I had windows open that crash or close randomly until i installed drivers.

I can't get past the Log in screen. It'll say Welcome, then flickers back to the lock screen. As if explorer is constantly crashing as someone has described.

Yes explorer is broken, i reinstalled 10 4 times past 3 days and its flickering for me too.I tried using iGPU with intel drivers and nvidia gpu+drivers.

Now its stable but i still flickering in the taskbar, and i disabled window animation because they were weird when min/maxing them.

How did you do the uprgrade? if you forced that might be a problem, i think you need to wait to receive message from win update when its ready because it downloads drivers for your system too not just the win10 files.

It says the files to revert back to 8.1 were deleted. Yea I got the installer on a USB from te "Get Windows 10" setup. Which drivers would I be looking for? Because I'm running on intel HD 4000 and a Nvidia GT630M (thought those wouldn't be a problem since they're pretty common.)

If you do an update from desktop both intel and nvidia drivers will get downloaded and installed automatically thats why a USB install from boot wont work because it doesnt have any drivers, it will download them after you boot to desktop i think but if you cant boot or finish setup then thats a problem.

Do an upgrade from win7/8 whatever you have, thats the only one that works, you also cant activate from USB install.

Okay I got it running stable outside of safe mode. Thanks every one! I uninstalled the intel HD 4000 driver in safe mode and disabled the Nvidia GT630m (for the meantime) and every thing seemed to have sorted itself out in the next reboot. I don't know if something happened during the installation of those drivers because it's still running on the same 10.18.10.4252 driver that had issues.
