i am currently using a western digital black hard drive as my main hard drive but i want to know is a western digital blue 1tb (same as my black) would be a good drive to constantly be backing up my black?

also would a western digital green be good for putting my recorded video's on?

Define "constantly backing up" please?

If you mean RAID 1 then I would not recommend it, just get a second black in that case.

It would work but it wont be optimal.

If you mean a sync of the files ever so often then it should be fine.

Green is perfect for simple media storage (videos / photo's)

Honestly, there's only so much you can do to "specialize" a hard drive. All of those are going to be fine for whatever you want to put on them.

CPU: i5 4670k • Cooler: Corsair H100i • Motherboard: MSI Z87 MPOWER • RAM: Crucial Ballistix Elite 2x 8GB • Storage: Samsung 840 250GB SSD, 2x WD Red 3TB • GPU: EVGA GTX 780 3GB • PSU: Corsair RM750W • Case: Corsair 750D • Mouse: Razer Naga 2012 (I actually use the thing for productivity/media buttons) • Keyboard: Ducky Shine 3 w/ Browns - Green LED • Monitor: Asus PB278Q 27" 2560 x 1440, ASUS PB238Q 23" 1920x1080 • Lighting: 2m NZXT Sleeved Blue LED Strip • pcpartpicker.com/p/3cHfZ

I might be mistaken, but back ups aren't something you should do constantly. It should be done in increments and with each back up as a separate thing (in other words: don't over write back up #1 with back up #2). A back up should also be removed from the system while not backing up. But like I said, I might be mistaken

You are not mistaken, Hence my initial question, Define "constantly backing up".
