iTunes wont sync movies to phone

Whenever my dad trys to sync his phone it syncs everything but his movies. The movies are in the right format for iphones, and yes i hit the sync button; no hitting the manage videos and music button manually button doesnt work either.The movies werent purchased on itunes they were burned from discs and they work on the rest of my family's' devices
