DirectX12 Split Frame Rendering?

Now that Windows 10 has been released with directx12, does anyone have more information about the Split Frame Rendering feature of DX12?

 

A couple weeks before launch i read articles claiming DX12 will support AMD and Nvidia cards running alongside eachother and promising great performance increase.

I have tried finding more info about this but there's not talk about it.

 

I figured someone here might have more information about this subject.

No one has any info yet because there is nothing out yet which actually utilizes DX12.

When in doubt, re-format.

It will need driver support from amd and nvidia, I doubt they will work together to ensure this happens for us lol

Heyyo,

Multi-GPU isn't even supported driver-wise from AMD and NVIDIA just yet in DirectX 12.

I have to disable SLI to even try 3DMark's API Overhead test or it just crashes. It only runs on a single GPU as well.

Notice how not a SINGLE DirectX 12 driver from NVIDIA even has driver notes:

There's this old one that says no SLI.

So... time will tell if SFR works in DirectX 12... same with VRAM sharing. I tried asking some AMD Driver devs if VRAM sharing between GPUs on DirectX 12 will be basic API support or per game engine? He could not comment...

NVIDIA doesn't even support multi-GPU with their OWN graphics cards outside the exact same GPU...Do you think they'd support running alongside AMD? Even if this were possible with DX12 you can be sure NVIDIA would go out of their way to prevent that.

90% of the DX12 hype is wishful thinking, and people talking about what could theoretically be possible. Not DX12 features. DX12 possibilities. These capabilities (i.e. flexible multi-GPU, VRAM stacking, etc.) won't magically happen on their own just because it's possible to do it with DX12. They won't appear unless they are supported by hardware and software vendors. And in most cases this is unlikely.
