ANOTHER Win 10 question

SleathX1
Go to solution Solved by rustikles,

This time around, I'm trying to change the File Explorer icon pinned in my taskbar to the way I had it set up in Windows 7. This tutorial is how I did it (probably two years ago)

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17415/set-the-windows-explorer-startup-folder-in-windows-7/

BUT. My problem is that the area shown here is greyed out and I can't enter the directory: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /E,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

 My guess is that there's an Administrator problem. Here's my screen:

Earlier when I installed Malwarebytes, I couldn't get rid of the desktop icon even though I'm an Administrator. I'm also the only account on this computer :/

Thanks in advance!!!

There's a toggle you can use now to actually change where file explorer opens to. I don't have a Win10 machine in front of me right now....

I think it's right click on the "quick access" menu that's shown on the left of file explorer and you should be able to find a settings menu. The very first top option is "Where to open file explorer" which you can change to "My Computer".

EDIT: This should do it too: Link Link2

for the first problem: making your own shortcut pointing to explorer.exe would be my guess.

for the second problem: this is why i love linux, and "sudo" .... (totally not a rant)

If I can find better instructions (or when I get home), I'll link it.

If you can do so, that's EXACTLY what I need. Thank a lot.

I'll get on it too :)
