I'm cleaning up my laptop's HDD to prep for an SSD, and after uninstalling some useless programs I noticed that the storage on the drive is steadily increasing. (That's the drive NOT ram, I don't mean a memory leak) it's gained almost 13GB in the past 5 days, at this rate it will fill up the 120GB SSD soon. I recently installed Logitech Setpoint and AutoHotKey, and have disabled them (via taskmanager) but it is still increasing. Any ideas on what might be causing it and/or how to track it down? My downloads are on a separate drive.

If you are using windows 7, 8 or 8.1 and have reserved your upgrade to windows 10 then that might be preloading in the background, I am not sure how much space that should take up but I doubt it is over 13Gb (could be wrong).

Open up task manager and see if your internet is being used when you don't have any applications open, if it is it is likely a windows update download and you should see it in the control panel under windows update. Another explaination for this would be that you have a virus of some kind, you should run an antivirus scan through windows defender or a third party program such as AVG. The last logical explaination that I can provide is that you are running multiple programs and this is causing data to be forced out of your RAM into your paging file making it larger which will take up (temporarily) room on your C drive (unless configured to off in 8.1 or another drive), however this would mean that the space is recovered after a reboot.

I never reserved windows 10, it wouldn't surprise me though. I'll run a virus scan, and see if that pulls up anything.(takes forever because of McAfee so have to wait till not using the computer) I've got 6G of RAM and rarely use more that ~75% of it, and the storage is not restored when I reboot. I'm planning on upgrading, mainly I still want cloning my Win7 instance to be an option if WinX has problems, and make sure I dont mess up WinX with a faulty program.
