PCI-e Network cards speed question

Go to solution Solved by Crion,

You'll be fine.  PCI-E 3.0 x1 comes out to 8Gbps if I remember correctly.  PCI-E 2.0 x1 is 5 Gbps I think...

10 Gbps dual nic configured in LACP still nets you at a max of 10 Gbps for a single stream.

I'm on the look out for a new network card to replace my base 10 card (yes not 10/100 just plain 10 on the only PCI slot in my newish PC as a second card FYI) and have noticed that there are gigabit cards on PCI-E for around the $10 mark are they any good or completely bottle-necked on PCI-E or do you only get that speed on PCI-E x16 or motherboards?

and for another question There are 10 gigabit dual nic PCI-e cards do they get 20 gigabit throughput or not really? and how fast is the maximum theoretical speed of a PCI-e network card (for reference)
