My Model M has arrived

After almost a month of waiting I finally got my 94 Model M. It looks like new and it was 40 dollars.

Sadly my motherboard doesn't have PS2 port and I seem to have misplaced the adapter I had. So I'll try and go buy one to start typing away

Those are great keyboards and have a great feel when typing.  I have semi-retired mine since it was due for a good cleaning after my most recent move.  Hope to get it back out for daily use soon.

Hey, 'grats on the excellent purchase, welcome to the Model M club! B)  I have a Lexmark Model M (1993) and I simply love that board, I've wrapped it up in a plastic sheet and kept it in a box because, to me, it's a beaut and a treasure. Yours looks to be in about the same near mint condition as mine...production date-wise, ours aren't that far apart. Only snag with mine is the three LED indicators aren't working, will have to get it fixed.....when I'm off my lazy rut that is.

 

Again, welcome to the club, and do take care of that badboy! :D Mine's the AT version, nothing an AT->PS/2 adapter couldn't solve. BTW, you can use the Part No. to check against this database:

If you look at the bottom of the KB, you'd find drainage holes (rectangular shaped holes on the front with retangular shaped black holes within), I've seen demos where water is poured onto the key caps and water simply flow out thru the bottom.

I finally got my hand on a PS2 adapter. It's working perfectly. The three LEDs are working and it feels amazing to type on. Quite a lot heavier than the Cherry MX Blues on my Ducky.

I think the TKL Model M's are called Model M Space Saver, I am kind of curious about it myself. But, I have too much on my plate now to look for one, will prolly do so later. Will prolly be getting an Aluminum YOTS, a HHKB Pro2 and a full 104key set of PBT dye-sublimated key caps sometime next week, that's a cool 670USD right there......can't afford to look at anything else.

 

Still, I'll be asking around about this nifty looking KB....btw, if you have tried Topre, it has the heaviness and feel of the Model M (the 55G model I have), yet it's smooth and quiet. I was hooked the moment I tried one.....using the Topre RF on my main rig, while the HHKB Pro2 would be my 'roaming' KB between my 2nd and 3rd rig.  It' s so small, it easily fits on a relatively small desk together with a full-sized KB.
