TrackMania Nations Forever not loading

So I just downloaded TrackMania Nations Forever, and I go to start the game up, and Steam wants me to allow it to install stuff the game needs. Very, VERY briefly, a dialog comes up that says something like "Installing Microsoft Register Server setup", and as soon as it came up it goes away. Then my screen goes black like the game is going to launch, and... It quits.

 

Also, when I go into the settings before launching the game, it can't do the little graphics benchmark (same dialog comes and goes before opening).

try manually running the game executable.

Nope. I ran every executable in the directory and they all failed to run.

This might be my only fix. Downloading the non-Steam version. There goes 1GB of data.

I'm downloading the full version of TMNF right now.
