what ram will u use?

Hi

i am building a 4k computer using linus build guide , however i have decided to change the 4930k i7 processor to 5930k i7 processor , changed the 780ti to 980 ti .

Using

X79 deluxe motherboard

850W power supply

Bitfenix fan

Coolermaster cpu cooler

2 730 intel ssd

Will my build work after i change the processor and gpu will it be incompatible ?

I think you need x99 for that cpu

Cpu: Ryzen 2700 @ 4.0Ghz | Motherboard: Hero VI x370 | Gpu: EVGA RTX 2080 | Cooler: Custom Water loop | Ram: 16GB Trident Z 3000MHz

PSU: RM650x + Braided cables | Case:  painted Corsair c70 | Monitor: MSI 1440p 144hz VA | Drives: 500GB 850 Evo (OS)

@jcommando It won't work, the CPU you have now, the socket is LGA2011, and the new one is LGA2011v3. You need to get a v3 compatible motherboard. There is not much difference in gaming with that CPU. Probably 2/3 FPS at the most, don't bother changing the CPU. Just get a 980ti, and that CPU will hold up fine.

CPU: i5 4670k @ 3.4GHz + Corsair H100i      GPU: Gigabyte GTX 680 SOC (+215 Core|+162 Mem)     SSD: Kingston V300 240GB (OS)      Headset: Logitech G930

Case: Cosair Vengance C70 (white)                RAM: 16GB TeamGroup Elite Black DDR3 1600MHz       HDD: 1TB WD Blue                              Mouse: Logitech G602

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium                       PSUXFX Core Edition 750w                                                Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45               Keyboard: Logitech G510

Dont need an i7 for gaming!,

for the 1053248959238958238958923785237857823978597823523562365236524th time

i5 4690K, Stronger GPU, Z97 motherboard, reinvest the savings (you'll probably get a good 150$ odd saving).

plus i hear at 4k things become very gpu bound, so again use the savings for a stronger GPU.

I apoligize, i've just been having a bad day.

i wouldn't really recommend a 4930K or 5930K really for gaming, unless you were doing some pretty hardcore editing work on the side too, 4690K will do the gaming job superb 720P to 4K.

With only one 980Ti you won't get 60fps in some games on ultra details + AA.

If you want to replicate the buildlog Linus did, only with up to date components, it'll look something like this:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-5930K 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor  ($499.99 @ Micro Center)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Nepton 280L 122.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($439.99 @ Mwave)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory  ($244.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Intel 730 Series 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($238.89 @ Amazon)
Storage: Intel 730 Series 480GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($238.89 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($689.97 @ B&H)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($689.97 @ B&H)

But this would be expensive due to X99, DDR4 and SLI, and as previously mentioned, you could look into something like this, which is more than half the price:

What's the motherboard you bought?

Running SLI will give you about 80% more performance if the game has good sli support, with bad support about 40% more and if the game has no SLI-support at all, you'll be getting the performance of a single card, obviously.

Yes, with the X79 boards you're only able to use socket 2011 CPUs like the 4930k. It will hold up fine for a few years.
