Hey guys i want to know what would be the best upgrade for me staying in lga1155 socket.

Mobo is ASUS Rog Maximus IV Gene-Z z68

Current CPU is i5 2500k oc'ed at 4.75 GHZ (46x103.3) 1.46

Ram 2x4gb Gskill 1333mhz 1.5v @ 1377mhz 1.56v

I want to change my cpu because it not a good 2500k and need way to much voltage to achieve good oc result.

I hit 5ghz game stable and 5min blend stable at a wooping 1.59V on AIR using a Thermalright TrueSpirit 120M with original fan

80°C in-game and 92°C after 1 pass in blend. It was stable enough so i could play csgo with it during 4-5 straight hours without crash or freeze.

Since i will be upgrading my cooling system to a custom water cooling and chiller.

I want to buy a another cpu and get another shot at a good or bad cpu :D

SO the question here is :

Will i get any benefit in upgrading to any lga1155 cpu that would fit my mobo. i7-2600k, i7-2700k, i5-3570k, i7-3770k

I only play games and one specific game, CSGO and i am a FPS addict the more the better, i am now playing at 350fps@1080 with my asus gtx770 dc2 oc but i am experiencing fps drops in smokes below 144fps on my 144hz rated monitor. This is due to the 2500k not the video card, my friend own a 970gtx with a 2500k oc at same spec. i dont want the new proc to bottleneck in smokes but to be a lga1155 dont know if a i7 without or with HT will be better but keep in mind i will oc that bitch through the roof i dont care running a proc at 1.55v if i can handle the temps.

Thank you for any inputs guys i know gen2 and lga1155 are getting old but im trying to squeeze every penny out of it!

You will get a 10-15% performance bonus but it's not too significant.

If you're into overclocking, Ivy Bridge is a worse overclocker (kicks out more heat) so it's up to you. Going from a 2500k to a 2600k will only give you like 5 more fps (or so I remember TekSyndicate quoting at the time.

to be honest I don't think upgrading the i5 2500k will be a good idea if you're just gaming. It's still a really good processor got mine to 4.2 ghz although it's not that high it's still okay IMO. I'd wait after 4th gen to consider upgrading If I were you.

What's your GPU? IMO don't upgrade since 4.7Ghz is plenty and performance is still good.

alright everybody but as i said sovek that cpu is not the greatest 2500k ive seen. 1.59 for 5ghz is terrible imo and the balls you need to bypass all the warning the bios is giving you..

i will keep that and wait for the skylake thanks every body.

and btw my gpu is asus gtx770 dc2 oc

If you have 770 then you won't need to upgrade to skylake ( performance wise ).
