So basically when I start up my pc my screen will go black after the welcome screen for 30 seconds or so then It will bring up my desktop like everything is normal, this has just started today and I'm really not sure what to do...

CPU: Intel Core I7 4790k @ 4.0ghz MOBO: Asus z97-A GPU:  EVGA 970 SSC SLI  RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1866  PSU: Corsair HX850W STORAGE: Kingston SSD 120GB, 1TB WD, 500GB WD CASE: NZXT H440

Probably loading the desktop? Do you have an SSD?

Yes I do, normally I just load up instantly. I may just be dumb?

have you changed anything new software or maybe an automatic driver update. also have you checked you event log for anything unusual?

That could very well be a possibility lol. Check the event log? Open Task Manager and disable some start up applications that hog system resources.

I don't have many programs that open up at start and non of them should be using that many resources and nothing crazy in event log.

my idea would be restart your system look in you event log what your system was doing while the screen was black.
