Display Connectors VGA or HDMI

The Mimz
Go to solution Solved by The Mimz,

Thanks everyone for the info.

Hi Folks,

My gfx card has both VGA and HDMI (Mini, Type C). Currently my display is connected to it via VGA but the display has a HDMI port. Question is, will there be any major change in display quality if I were to use the HDMI connection? I'm getting 1080p just fine with VGA connection. Display is a Dell S2340L and gfx card is a GTX 750 Ti.

Thanks

It's more ideal that you use HDMI if your monitor has it.

For display configurations, it should go DisplayPort > HDMI > DVI > VGA. VGA is basically obsolete on modern equipment, as it was kind of intended more for CRT monitors, due to VGA's analogue nature.

Everything else is digital and therefore doesn't degrade. HDMI's pretty solid, in fact. Use that.

Never use VGA. VGA is utter shit.

Funny you said that when I'm checking my game server, which is plugged via VGA with a cheap cable (doesn't even have ferrite beads)... it makes everything look blurry.
