External soundcards

i am thinking of getting the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for my setup up and i will be connecting to wo m audio bx5 studio monitors. what cables do i buy like i know they are 1/4 inch jack from the card to the speakers but would mono cables be the best for sound quality?

It shouldn't matter between mono and stereo, both should give you the same quality of sound (The two non-grounds will act together) so you shouldn't see any difference. If you're buying new cables though, you really may as well just get the mono ones, to do it "properly".

What? Balanced is TRS, or stereo, mkay?

I know :P I meant using two stereo trs cables vs using two mono trs cables :)

 

Makes no sense. In this application the cables will transmit a mono signal, period. However, TRS will be balanced, TS will be unbalanced.

 

As I said, OP needs TRS cables. Saying that they should get "mono cables" is ambiguous.

huh, I though balanced one required two conductors per channel? Why would you need a trs vs TS? (I was assuming a Ts cable was a mono trs one... My bad)
