SOS- PLEASE HELP!

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

Yeah plus the fact that it came out of the blue probably signifies that something broke quickly, if it was thermal paste, then it should have been a gradual effect

if it was running fine before and now you no longer hear any pump noise at all and the CPU is overheating then i think you have your answer :(

I have an i5-4690K not overclocked on an ASUS Z97-IPLUS with a Corsair H55 cooler. Currently my idle temps are 70 degrees celsius, and whenever i load up chrome, my cpu temps spike to 98 degrees. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Reapply thermal compound and check the radiator fan if it is plugged in properly and not failing.

Put your ear to the block and listen for pump noise, if you hear nothing then your pump may have kicked the bucket.

should i try using my stock cpu temporarily

sorry stock cooler

if you have no thermal paste under the H55 and you have the stock cpu cooler and it has the thermal paste on it then yes swap it ASAP.

Also make sure the H55 pump is running and that the fan is spinning...and spinning quite fast cause those temps are really hot...

All the screws tight on the mount? CPU temps shouldn't just spike that high for no reason unless the cooler's not making contact with the CPU or if the pump has failed.

Just tried it again, i hear no moving water, probably a defective pump

you should hear the pump when those things are running at full RPM's you do hear them quite noticeably.

If you hear no pump, stop using and find WHY...is it plugged?
