Help me please

So im building a pc right now and everything is hooked up but when I turn it on the lights and fans go on but nothing comes up on my monitor, im thinking I havent hooked the cpu cooler up properly (x61 if that helps) any ideas thanks.

have you tried hooking the monitor up directly to the motherboard?

What is your build? Check all cables first.

Did you plug your hdmi into your motherboard? Instead of your GPU?

I7 4790k, gtx980ti, asus maximus ranger, 16gb ripjawsx corsair ax760i, x61 and a h440 case

What could be causing this?

And im not sure if this is unusual but the x61 is quite loud is that normal?

Did you plug in power to your GPU? I did that last time I took my system apart to fix the motherboard heat sink. I was sitting there trying to figure out why it would post and not show a display, Windows even loaded...

Ok the x61 just made a squirt sound and I got scared so I turned it off haha

Should the x61 3pincable be plugged into the cpu_opt or cpu_fan?

Is the power connected to the GPU?  Is the monitor set to HDMI input?

do you have any trouble codes shown on the motherboard

Nothing shows up on monitor

You need to connect the CPU_FAN header, my board refuses to POST without it.

It is connected but to the left of the cpufan pins theres a cpu opt what is that?
