Hey there folks, I'm trying to plan my first build and I was wondering if it would be up to the task of playing Fallout 4 at 1080p.

I am trading a spare anvil for a monitor and keyboard so I can keep the budget around $900 to $1,000 including warranties.

I am not planning on doing any overclocking until I get my feet wet, so to speak.

Any help would be very much appreciated

get a 380 instead, same price point, but better performance (yes it will work just fine)

you can also save a few bucks by ditching windows and the disc drive and buying a copy on reddit, its about $20 and you can boot it to a usb, that extra money can go towards a 390 or something just as good

You can get windows from g2a or reddit for $20. You don't need a optical drive, they have USB cd readers now a days. I highly suggest running Ethernet to your PC.

Alrighty,

I'd really suggest a WD or hitachi drive over a seagate. I've only ever had issues, as well as widespread failure rates.

Get the OS from g2a.com or reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap , it's 1/5th the price and legitimate copies.

Get a higher wattage powersupply,. 550W minimum.

everything else seems perfectly fine. A 380 would give better performance over a 960, the 960 can't even fully utilize it's 4gb vram, making it really kinda pointless for the money.

In the argument for the 380 over the 960 the 380 has a lower core clock at 990MHz vs 1241MHz and a lower effective memory clock at 5700MHz vs 7010 MHz.

Does the faster memory interface at 256 bit vs 128 bit mean that it moves the data back and forth faster with lower clock speeds?

I can't seem to find a video comparing the two head to head and I'm not smart enough to make a decision based off the numbers alone since I don't understand everything they mean.

Thanks to all of you for your swift responses though, it is very helpful and a testament to this forums users.
