Hi there, I just traded 3 Pentium 4 computers for an i3 computer (latest i3) with 4gb (hopefully upgrading to 6gb) it has an old 500w psu although it only has like 280w On the 12v power Rail. So i would like to put a grafics card in it under 100 euro, if possible cheaper.

At THAT budget, buy 2nd hand/used.

Slightly lower than a 280/960

When it came out it rivaled the HD7950, which is a slightly underclocked 280, which rivals the 960.

Hard to say, you can get a 2nd hand HD7950 (280) for $120

But you NEEEEED a better PSU for that card. 280w, is BARELY covering the whole system with a HD7950 in there under load.

The card itself, alone, at load will use 180-220w (Stock>OC'd) (If I remember right when I had one)

7790 = 260x

7850 = 270

7870 = 270x

HD7950 = 280

HD7970 = 280x

 

Search for the older models, and fnd 2nd hand bargains.

With YOUR PSU tho, you'd prob want Nvidia power efficiency.

 

OP - 750Ti most likely is gunna be perfectly fine with that PSU, has modern architecture and performs admirably.

Nope, but yes,...yes and no....

 

 

You CAN get frame drops when the Dualcore i3 is heavily under load or near full usage, but the GPU usage should be sticking to 100% no matter what for most games.

Yes. If you don't change the psu, which due to its age won't be providing 280w on the 12v rail anymore, then the 750ti is your safest bet
