Haswell-E or skylake

Go to solution Solved by XxDeadpool67xX,

x99 is better yet probably more expensive so there you have it. X99 will be better for all of the stuff you listed yet more expensive depends on you. If this helped please select marked solved.

People say skylake will be here in august and im building a new pc anyway but i want to know if the 5820k is worth getting or to just wait for skylake chips?

I do gaming, editting and the occasional CAD for work

Skylake won't be out performing the 5820k. Just build the PC :).

This is probably just me but what parts will be in this PC? ( preferably in PCPartPicker ) :) Thanks. Don't want someone regret buying a part. You can PM if wanted also.

If you're just gaming then wait for the Z107 platform, otherwise if it's for anything other than gaming + gaming than get a 5930k.

If you go X99 there's a slight chance Skylake-e will be supported but that's still up in the air.

5930k is a horrible CPU.

it's almost twice the cost of the 5820k for only more PCI-e lanes.

I approve. Good build. It's almost identical to the rig I built for my friend, only difference was I choose an EVGA 980 (cuz it was before Ti).

Perfect, do you have an old HDD for mass storage?
