Macbook Air Windows alternative

Go to solution Solved by givingtnt,

XPS13 or X1 Carbon

Hello, new to the forums but thought this would be the best place to start looking for the perfect laptop/ultrabook PC to save my bro from the Apple menace. He had a Macbook Air provided through the high school he attended his 12th and final year of schooling. He is now off to University and wants to have a buttery smooth laptop. I initially thought of the ASUS Zenbook UX305FA as it was a lightweight PC in the literal and operational sense. He used it for a day and we found the loading of webpages is near unbearable (not sure if the issue lies in the processor or the wifi antennas) and the trackpad is nowhere near that of the macbook and it jumped and was not smooth in any sense of the word. I want to keep him from using a Mac as I know the Windows operating system is more capable and customizable. For under the price of a Macbook Air is there a better option? The top tier 11" model sits at $1,099.00, so is there a slick Windows alternative? The trackpad needs to be as flawless as the Macbook Air trackpad (ultraresponsive;with no lag), and as he isn't a power user the processor shouldn't matter as long as it tears through the web (loads all webpages within seconds), no gaming or "cpu intensive tasks" are anticipated...

Listed below are the product pages on newegg and Fry's Electronics for the ASUS Zenbook UX305FA

Newegg-

We did a side-by-side comparison and it was slower... I was really shocked to see the difference!

Thanks in advance for any and all help regarding this topic.
