University Laptop ~ $1500 or less (after taxes)

I am looking for a light (not nessisarily ultrabook) laptop at around $1500 USD after taxes and stuff that can simply type word, and browse the internet. The user of the laptop comes from a Macbook, and he does not play many games, and doesn't require much, but I am expecting at least an i5 with dedi, or an i7, an SSD (or SSD upgradable), and a 1080p IPS (ish) screen.

 

The Dell XPS 15 is just out of reach of this, and I would get it if it wasn't so expensive.

Have you looked at the Lenovo y50 series and the Sager lines? They typically have pretty good laptops. Also the Asus Zenbook is right at your budget and is pretty light/good for gaming.

How about Dell XPS 13 or you really need a 15 laptop?

Also Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga and Yoga itself are good laptop.

There is also Lenovo Carbon
