I've got an asus k53sc notebook, which has an intel core i3 2230m and an nvidia gt520mx. But in games, it only detects the intel graphics and I can't install any drivers for it and in the bios there seems to be no option to enable it. Am I missing anything? how can I use that GPU?

That GPU isn't precisely for gaming.

Are you sure it isn't just the games reporting the PRIMARY GPU?

Lots of games do that, for example GTA IV is a pretty obvious one

in games graphical options show the intel graphics only, not the 520mx

I got that, I don't know if I explained it properly.

Games will display the name of the primary GPU, this doesn't mean you're actually running that one, that just depends on drivers configuration towards applications.

ie if you bencharmk GTA IV with the GT520MX it'll say it's Intel HD 3000 because that's the primary GPU

This is a signature.

yeah, but still, the nvidia drivers can't get installed,it says that there's no gpu detected

Then that's another story, check you meet the software requirements.

Also If you opened the laptop recently and it's a MXM GPU make sure you plugged it correctly

This is a signature.

Something like a 520MX wouldn't be MXM

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

Well the 520 is likely worse than the hd graphics anyways... And it might have something to do with dx11 support. I don't know what the 500 series has but it can't be much.

Edit:nvrmnd it's about 10% better than the igpu. Dx11.1/2 might be an issue or you can try forcing the gpu use using the nvidia control panel.
