Hello my friends,

I've never built a pc before but have decided to give it a try, after a lot of research and thinking this is what I'm thinking about:

With windows 10 when it releases.

Will this work out? If not: why not?

Sincerely yours,

Bob

Welcome to the Forum, Bob.

What's your budget and what are you wanting to do with the build? There are a few things I'd like to change but I'll let @Oshino Shinobu do that for you, because he's probably going to make better suggestions than I can.

Sig under construction.

You'll still need a Windows 7 or 8 key until it actually does launch.

As far as specs go, why get a locked motherboard with a k-series CPU? I'd suggest one of these:

For gaming solely? 1600mhz ram at the very least. A nice air cooler would be good for a cheaper price. I'd get a r9 280x or r9 380. They would both out perform that GTX 960 for the same price. You chose a h97 mobo with a i5-4690k. You want a z97 mobo so you can ove clock it.

If you plan on overclocking you will need a z97 motherboard,

Also what do you intend on using the pc for?

Get better graphics card, GTX 970/R9 390

If budget is an issue, skip that AIO cpu cooler and SSD

Finally got PS4 Pro

You've been able to overclock on H97 for around 2 years now...

No, it will not work out. You are close though.

The H97M board isn't going to overclock the 4690k. Edit: The h97m board isn't going to overclock the 4690k very well.

The Corsair h55 is a nice thought, but it's not going to do much better if at all than an Air Cooler.

You can find cheaper memory that is better.

I'll try to fit in a better SSD for you.

The Zotac 960 is probably ok, but you can get one with a higher base clock and better cooling solutions for about $5 more.

Perfect choice on the Power Supply. ;) It's a nice one.

With all that being said, here are the changes.

You needed a z97 board, this is a low priced, but good quality board.

You didn't need the AIO cooler, so we saved some money there and got you a regular Air Cooler.

Saved some money and got you some cheaper RAM, matches your colors, and performs better than your original choice.

Was able to fit in a Samsung Evo at a little extra cost than your choice, but it's going to be worth it. If possible, I'd say spend another $20 and get the 250GB version.

Edit:

Got you the highest base clock 960, it also has really good cooling for an extra... $2. So yea. R9 380 will be better. $12 more than original

Had to change the case to fit the different Cooler, the old case wasn't compatible with it. Still pretty much the same.
