HDD not recognized in Windows

Go to solution Solved by cheetoritos,

Welp, problem solved. I disabled Ultra Fast Boot in UEFI and my HDD is back in action. I guess it was booting so fast that it didn't scan for new hardware. Ultra Fast Boot is now re enabled and my drive is back :D. Thanks for your help though

Hey guys! Recently something really weird happened. I built a new PC about a month ago, and everything was all fine and dandy. I then decided to install an AIO water cooling solution for my GPU using the NZXT Kraken G10, and that's fine and dandy too. But ever since then, my HDD stopped being recognized. At first I thought I might of bumped my PC too hard and killed it, but after plugging it into one of my older builds, it worked fined. It works in the external drive dock I have too. Of course, I can use my disk like this, but I'd really prefer to have it INSIDE my PC (less cables to worry about).

So after verifying that it does indeed work (with the drive dock I bought) I decided to reinstall it into my PC. I have switched SATA data cables, SATA ports, and SATA power ports, but it refuses to show up in Windows. BIOS finds it just fine, but it is nowhere to be seen. Even in my Disk Manager, it won't show up (even after rescanning...)

Any help would be much appreciated. Again, I can just chuck it into my drive dock, but since it's a Mini ITX build (built to save space), It kind of defeats the whole purpose of my build to use additional space, power outlets, and USB ports just for my HDD.

On a side note, could this be a power issue? Though it only uses 740mA on the 12V rail...

Try this:

Win+R keyboard shortcut

type diskmgmt.msc

press enter.

wait

see if the drive has a drive letter assigned to it. (eg. c: d:)

if it doesn't have a drive letter, right click the drive area and click change drive letter and paths

choose a drive letter

It was properly installed and working before, but it does not show up at all with Disk Management.

Does it show up in Device Manager and in Computer Management?

Nothing.
