GPU maxing out on Minecraft?

Go to solution Solved by LightCode Gaming,

... Weird. Now its staying ~50% with 300FPS; same settings as before. Must have been the particles.

I have a standard GTX 960 (not overclocked; 1200MV or whatever stock)

I was playing on a minecraft server that is heavily modded SERVER side; its still a vanilla client. x64 resource pack that is ONLY textures; no sounds or anything.

6 chunk render distance with semi-high quality.

Should this be getting my GPU up to 90+% usage? And 72C?

Cinebench R15: 636(all cores), 127FPS

Why not crank that chunk distance to likes 12+

im getting solid 50fps at chunks on intel hd 2000 bruh

I don't crank it because I'm usually using a shader that drops it to ~60FPS with render of 6; any higher and it drops below 30.

if you dont enable vsync and leave framerate uncaped, it will use a ton of GPU

MC caps my GTX770 at 100% and 2GB of vram

the 2GB is actually a bottleneck because my friend with a 4GB 770 gets 2x my fps :(

Well I was getting about 60 where I was (it was a graphic intense event on the server; lots of particles and such) so... yeah.

Capping helped a LOT! Thanks :D

Electricity bill and room temperature be damned, i want to produce more frames.

-Your GPU, when not told to limit the frame rate.
