I recently purchased a new graphics card for my computer the MSI GeForce GTX 970. When I installed the card and started up my computer I was stuck at my mother/bios screen. My computer beeped waited a few seconds beeped again and that continued for four beeps. After the fourth beep I was launched into my windows desktop. Even stranger is that now my computer doesn't detect my 2 Tb HDD. I've tried to partition it, unplug and replug it in, but that did not work. My computer does not seem to know it's there or it is fried somehow. I even tried putting my old graphics card in and my computer starts up normally without the four beeps but it still doesn't detect me HDD.

I'm assuming I might need to upgrade my power supply and probably need to purchase a new HDD but I wanted to ask for some help before spending money.

My specs are:

GPU: (New) MSI GeForce GTX 970. (Old) Gigabyte radeon 7850 or 7860 it doesn't say on the card

CPU: Intel i5-3570k @ 3.40 Ghz

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H

RAM: 8 gigs of corshair vengence

OS: Windows 8.1 64bit

And my current power supply is  600 watts.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Hey,

May be something to do with going from AMD to Nvidia mate.

Put the old card in, use Display Driver Uninstaller : http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Remove all traces of the AMD driver packages.

Shutdown, switch out the cards.

Install the latest driver package from Nvidia.

Do all of that forst before we look at what is going on with the HDD
