I7 5930k overheat with a watercooling system

Why

No, it has nothing to do with the temp. Just curious.

Do you run it at 7V or 12V?

The cold plate of my particular pump was very concave. I ended up sanding it flat before installing the whole thing. Temp is OK, similar to other AIO I had, but not better.

I read reviews say some motherboard fan headers cannot supply enough power to the pump. So I always run it from 7V/12V cable directly from the PSU. But I found even at 7V the pump was still noisier than I would have like. At 7V, the pump is doing about 2600rpm. Which is faster than Corsair H100i. Corsair H100i has a very similar pump in terms of size and design. But it only spins at 2200-2300rpm. So I think there is some room to lower the speed and the noise of the Eisberg Solo. I just install a NZXT Grid+ to control the pump speed. Now the pump will run at 2130rpm(35%) at idle and low load. But will steadily increase the speed to 2730rpm(55%) when the temp passes 60*C. It is much quieter in low/normal work load situations now.

My motherboard says me that the pump runs at 3000 RPM on a normal fan header
More or less And it is possible, that i got a bad CPU

Haswell-E uses solder as TIM. It's extreme unlikely you get a overheating CPU.

I have seen so many time people complain their CPU overheat. 9 out of 10 times because of bad mounting. The other time is because they forget to connect the pump to the power source.
