So i am building a gaming PC for the first time and I am planning on getting a i7-4770k but I know a i7-4790k would be better, does anyone know where to find the best price for a 4790k

Also, I was wondering if my build will be good for future games and not just games that are out right now

Processor- 4770k (unless I find a good priced 4790k)

Graphics Card- GTX 970

Motherboard- ASUS Maximus Formula VI

16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM

Get the i5 4690k and a cheaper motherboard for a better graphic card. You don't need a fancy motherboard nor a i7 for gaming as the i5 will do fine.

Cast Death is Right.

Although I guess it is dependent on what your budget is.

What is your budget?

What is it for?

And where do you live?

To be perfectly honest ... that is an overkill motherboard ...

You can save for a better graphics card like a 980, 980ti, R9 390, ETC.

If you are building a PC for the 1st time .. I dont think you should start overcloking right away ... just try and be careful if you choose too.

Btw your build needs a Case and a PSU. Remember you need a OS, a Monitor, and ofc your Keyboard and mouse as well!

I have $1,239 available, and I was wondering something else, should I go with GTX 970 or R9 390 I've just heard a lot of clashing between those two cards and wanna know for sure what to go for

Nvdia has a lower power output and the r9 390 has more power.

And the $1100 build is completely sufficient enough for high quality gaming correct?

Yes but not the way you're spending it so far. A Maximus VI Formula is 100% unnecessary and a waste of money at that price point. You need a standard Z97 board like a Z97-E from ASUS. Be smart with the way you spend your money, don't buy ANYTHING until you completely figure out what you want.

I wasn't gonna go for the Maximus Formula VI anymore, I was gonna go with Asrock H97 Anniversary, and instead of i7-4770k I'm going with i5-4690k, and I found some cheaper prices on other items I will buy so I could exchange the 970 for a 980 Ti

Does that sound like a good build or kinda trashy

If you get the i5 K you should get a Z97 board, I'd recommend Asus Z97-E, cheap and SLI available

If you don't want to OC get the i5 4590 or 4460 with a Crossfire enabled H97 board and get the R9 Fury instead

Would a normal Z97 work for OC, I mean I was trying to stay under $1,400 and I'm already slightly over, I'd just like to not get into the $1,500 range

Any Z97 can OC, but I chose that board because it's considerably cheaper than any other Z97 with SLI

Oh ok gotcha, and after I build the PC would it be worth doing dual 980 Ti's?

If you want ultra 4K gaming and have lots of money, yeah

Else one is enough for everything

Okay man thanks

How do u think I should go about getting parts? Most expensive first and least expensive last or backwards?

How long are you going to build it?

Do u mean like how long will it take?

Kinda, because skylake is near its release so it can affect some items like CPU, mobo,....

I mean even if Skylake did come out while I'm building my PC couldn't I just buy the parts I plan on using, I could really care less about the whole wire thing, I'm very good with cable management, it's not a big deal, or does Skylake somehow affect wired parts too? Sorry if I sound stupid on this subject, I just looked up a summary of what it basically is

Buy HDD, SSD, GPU, PSU, monitor, peripherals... first

Then if you can wait for skylake, buy CPU, mobo, ram later
