Displayport lenght

Go to solution Solved by o0Martin,

For Display Port it's always best to stay with 3m max. (That's the rated length for the normal copper display port cable)

Not sure where the review got 5m from? It'll always be quoted as 3m or 15m, but it's my understanding that unless you have a fiber optic display port cable it wont be 15m only 3m

Good day folks.

This has probably been answered already, but would be good to clear up since I don't actually find it anywhere...

I got a 1440p 144hz monitor, and could do with a longer displayport cable then 2m... But what does it support when it comes to lengths? According to a review i read, 5m is too long for it to work, but it was written really poorly. I would do fine with 3m, but have no idea if that would be too long for the DP to refresh fast enough? (feel free to correct me in any way you want)

Thanks a lot for replies!

The review was in swedish and on a norwegian page. And it didn't state what didn't work with it.

But there are plenty more places selling 5m than 3m :P that's for sure xD

I'll pick up two 3m to use to my monitors then :P

There's a thing I'm also weirded out about...

All the dp cables always have different shapes on the end. And none of them says any more information than dustin saying "20 pin"

Here's two examples I can get in norway (out of like 4 places):

Digitalimpuls

Dustin Home

Okay good luck ^^ 3m will 100% work  :)

But guess both should be able to do 1440p and 144hz :P Thanks!

Just make sure it's a Display Port 1.2 cable which it probably is and it's fine :)

That's 1.2 :P

(sorry for all the links to different places :P)
