Uninstalling your old video card driver and re-installing the new has always been a rule of thumb right?

AMD Catalyst Driver just automatically updated and went ahead on installing the new driver, its going to be ok right lol?

Maybe. The program probably knows what it's doing though, and has likely been programmed to do it the right way.
