His budget is around £340 so not much leway!!

The reason why I went with the 6300 is because it is a quad core. This doesn't mean performance but with DX12 & games completely disallowing dual-cores without mods you'll run into trouble. Yes My signature says don't purchase an AMD CPU because the upgrade path is really poor; however if he wants to play more games then this is the more viable option in my opinion.

 

BUT if hes only playing CSGO and small games like that GO WITH AN i3 dual-core CPU. I managed to squeeze in a great GPU as well.
